I wonder how seriously we take this scripture. Does sin truly interfere with God’s hearing our prayers? Sin is only one reason that desperate prayers may not be answered. God may still be working in the life of the one for which you are praying so earnestly, or He may be developing patience in the one who is praying.
“Have you seen this bumper sticker, “Christians aren’t perfect, they are just forgiven.” The process of spiritual growth has its ups and downs. Just as babies don’t grow up overnight physically, we don’t grow up overnight spiritually. Our battle with sin, will exist till the day we draw our last breath. Sometimes that battle can be pretty intense and messy. We never get to the place where we are immune to temptation or where we do not desperately need His mercy and grace.
We forget that God is holy and cannot look upon our sin. Even though we have invited Him into our lives, we still live in our body of sinful flesh. He looks at us through the blood of His Son Jesus, who was perfect, spotless, sinless and His righteousness becomes ours.
Jesus is at the right hand of the Father, ever interceding for us. That’s why we pray in Jesus Name. ! John 1:9 God tells us, “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” He also tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people which are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.”
The only way to become more consistently victorious in your prayer life; is to confess your sins to Jesus. He will remove your sins from you; as far as the east is from the west, and remember them no more.
Confessed sin can no longer run interference, between you and the Lord your God. Ask HIm to “Create in you a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within you.”
