A Melody in your Heart

Standard

Devotion:  Psalm 59:16-17

There’s an old hymn that declares, “There’s within my heart a melody.  Jesus whispers sweet and low. Fear not I am with thee, peace be still, in all of life’s ebb and flow. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, sweetest Name I know,  fills my every longing, keeps me singing as I go.”

Songs of praise and worship can lift the most deeply depressed spirit.  With a song in one’s heart, sung in an attitude of worship and thanksgiving, even the most discouraged soul, will be lifted. I love praise and worship music.  The same songs we sing on Sunday, pour out of my mouth all week long.  It can be life altering, making the difference of walking in discouragement or encouragement.

We want to take refuge from the adversity around us, but there are times we need refuge from ourselves.  If we choose to agree with the lies; the enemy has whispered in the dark; before we know it; he has our mind swirling with unbelief.  Our, mind, body and spirit begin to act and react in an ungodly fashion.  Even though you may not “feel” like it, if you begin to “fill” your mouth with praise and adoration, for the One who holds you in His hands, your whole countenance will change.

You and I were created for eternity.  This world is just our training ground. Sing with all of your heart, songs of praise and worship and watch to see how your spirit will be lifted.

In Motion:

Defeat the enemy of your soul with a song of praise and worship this day.
