Love, True Love

Standard

Devotion:  2 John: 6

“Romeo and Juliet” as well as “Love Story”, were two popular movies that made us cry our eye-balls out.  Girls swooned as they watched the stories unfold and secretly hoped they would find someone who would love them, “till death they did part”. Those are just movies, and most of the actors and actresses have been married countless times, so is it possible to find true love?  I can tell you yes, beyond a shadow of a doubt; it is possible, when you walk according to God’s commandments.

Before you throw the baby out with the bathwater, listen to God’s voice.  “As you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.”  Walk in what?  Love.  This is not love that is infatuated with another human being; nor is it selfish love, that wants it’s own way.  This is “lay your life down for another person” kind of love, putting the other person ahead of your own wants and desires.  How many of us walk this out, not just in our heads, but in our actions toward our spouses, even toward our brothers and sisters in Christ?

I’m reminded of 1 Corinthians 13. Take time to read the whole chapter today.  It’s only 13 verses and is full of wisdom, power, instruction and prophecy that applies to your life today. If we will heed these verses and apply it’s truth, our lives will be filled with grace and truth.  It’s a love that does not pour out of our flesh, but out of our spirit.

In Motion:

Ask the Lord to help you walk out this amazing love.
