My friend Teresa says, “I choose joy.” How could she do that in the midst of battling cancer; when she has every right to be angry and depressed? Because she possess a deep, abiding joy through her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, she is able to give joy. Thousands of people have watched her live out her “looking up.” She keeps her eyes and her heart fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of her faith. Her faith only deepens; as she battles one of life’s greatest challenges.
People who choose joy are preoccupied with God rather than themselves. Christians who determine to delight in God, regardless of their circumstances, are like a city set on a hillside, whose lights burn brightly for all to see. They are able to give out of the abundance of what they possess.
When one practices the presence of God in this life, the fullness of joy is displayed for the world to see. His or her joy is unspeakable and full of glory. A public display of God’s splendor radiates brightly, reflecting the joy of the Lord.
I pray all of us would choose the joy of the Lord who is our strength and readily give out of our abundance Joy is second only to love; in the list of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Decide to give out of your abundant joy during this Christmas season.
