How important is it to hear the voice of our Lord? He declares those who belong to His fold, do indeed hear His voice. How did you respond? Was it a head turning moment when you fully expected to see Him? I do not mean literally see Him, for “no man can see God and live”, but there should be times when He manifests His presence powerfully through His still small voice. You know that you know; it was Him speaking directly to your heart, mind and spirit.
My friend Teresa Brown sings a song called, “In the Presence of Jehovah.” The song says “Troubles vanish, hearts are mended, in the presence of the King.” When you tell this Man Jesus, your greatest need or concern, He listens. You pour out your heart like water before His face. He really does hear you but do you really expect to hear from Him?
Adam and Eve heard the voice of their Creator in the garden. Moses heard the voice of God speaking the ten commandments. Abraham heard God’s voice as he was about to sacrifice his only son in obedience to the One he served. Isaac heard God say, “Do not go down to Egypt; but dwell in the land of which I shall tell you.” Time after time God spoke to His people. May I tell you some great news? He still does! But are you listening for the voice of the One who still speaks?
Lord Jesus, quiet the noise in the lives of those who belong to you; long enough to hear the Most Important Voice they will ever hear.
