My friend Jennifer has a quote in one of her rooms that says; “Excellence is not a skill; it’s an attitude.”
Adequate means sufficient. The product or person meets the requirements but refuses to go above and beyond the call of duty. The Lord expects His children to do everything with excellence. He wants us to be a good example to the world we live in, work in, and play in. A Christian’s life should deliver the message by our actions; that we will work, to the best of our ability. People should be able to count on us to be more than adequate; as we complete any earthly assignment we are given.
The Lord has called us to a more excellent way; in a world where many just try to get by, with the least amount of effort possible. We should be giving of ourselves one hundred and ten percent. God desires for the world to see us displaying excellence, for His honor and glory. He wants His children to be on display for His splendor.
So how will you live your life, do your work, operate on a daily basis? Adequately or with excellence? It’s a better witness and testimony for Christ, if we go the more excellent way; versus the mundane, adequate way. What does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to give mercy and to walk humbly before the Lord your God. Let everything you do be done as if you were doing it for Christ Himself.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord, help me to live to Your standard of excellence.
