Taste and See

Devotion:  Psalm 34:8

My hunger pains increased exponentially, as I opened the door to Cracker Barrel. The smells of cooking food greeted my nostrils and my stomach knew, I was about to satisfy my insatiable appetite. No matter where you are, you can know, Cracker Barrel’s food will always be delicious.

I believe God uses food to speak of Himself because He placed within us hunger for food.  Our bodies require food, in order to be sustained on a daily basis.  The Lord asks us to hunger and thirst for righteousness because He knows our righteousness is found in Him alone.

Just as food alone is meant to satisfy our hunger; Jesus is the only One who can satisfy our souls.  We must taste and see to know that He is good.  How do we taste of the Lord?  We converse with Him on a daily basis.  We open His Word and read His promises and then stand on the truths we find there. He will reveal the hidden things as we seek His face and know His heart.

Once food enters our mouths, we chew it and swallow it; trusting that it will provide the much needed nourishment. Only God sees the inward working of the food feeding our bodies.  In the same way; we do not know how God will speak to us, until we pray, open His Word and seek His face. He longs for you to have an insatiable appetite for Him.  Ask Him to increase your hunger and thirst for righteousness.  Taste and see that He is good!

Prayer in Motion:

Oh God, may I taste and see that You are good!  Lord may I hunger and thirst for You, even more than my own food.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
