Devotion: James 1:8
How are you today? “Oh fine,” How many times do we give that response when we really aren’t fine. We may be consumed with doubt, worry, ill feelings toward someone but we plaster a smile on our faces and no one knows, except God, that we are faking it. Faking the “Spirit filled” life Jesus died to give us.
In order to live a life called “the Spirit filled life”, we must take daily inventory and ask ourselves; are we bearing spiritual fruit? Do others observe us displaying love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control? Are we supposed to tell everyone who asks how we are; the down and dirty truth? NO! You can say, “Please pray for me, I’m having a bit of a struggle. I hate being fake and I don’t want people to be fake with me either.
God promised that we can have life and have it abundantly but we must be proactive in choosing to live the Christian life in an abundant manner. Only the strong and courageous can stand against the daily arrows of our enemy. Pretending to be fine is not an act of valor in God’s eyes. It involves being fake and it makes Him sick. His word for it is “lukewarm”.. He would rather we be hot or cold versus lukewarm.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord, may I be real with those you have placed in my life.
