The State in which You Live

Standard

Devotion: 2 Corinthians 3:18

What is your current state?  I do not mean the land in which you dwell.  I mean your state of being; physically, emotionally and spiritually.

As I planted the flowers in my dad’s rusty old tool box; I thought of the season and age of the tool box.  My eyes beheld new flowers, in an old tool box.  The tool box is at least seventy five years old.  However;  it brings to mind a hard working carpenter father, who provided well for his family.

You see; Dad was the one who led me to Christ. Every night his calloused hands would fold in prayer; as we prayed together as a family.  His hands would sometimes crack open and bleed from the hard work he performed during the week.  Although his hands were in a state of callousness, his heart was tender toward his family.

In the summer, my Dad always had about a half of an acre garden. There was a plethora of vegetables growing in his well kept garden.  He would plow, plant, fertilize, hoe and weed, until the harvest time.  The vegetables would burst forth from their seed state, to their bountiful crop producing state; all because my dad had taken such good care of them.  They came forth from dirt, albeit well cared for dirt. Beloved, remember from whence you came.

I do not know your spiritual, physical or emotional state but this one thing I know; your Father will take care of you, no matter your state of being.  He wants to plant you into fertile soil.  He wants to hoe out all the weeds and till the soil of your heart. He will send His righteous rain and His Son to make sure you bear fruit in due season.  He is the One who does all the hard work. Our part is to cooperate with His work.

For the state in which you live, your Abba-Father will take care of you.    He will not allow you to wither or faint and longs to bring forth, a bountiful crop of fruit in your life.

Prayer in Motion:

Father, help me remember; that whatever my state of being, You are with me, providing all my needs to bear fruit.  May “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
