Sarah is remembered to this day; for her legendary beauty. Until she was ninety years old; her name was Sarai, which means, “my princess.” According to the scriptures, she was still beautiful as age sixty five, when her husband, Abraham, tried to pass her off as his sister, in order to appease King Abimelech, who showed interest in her extraordinary beauty.
Sarah, is well known for her faith and steadfastness but scripture also reveals her times of impatience and weak faith. As a result of her barrenness, Sarai summonsed her hand maiden, Hagar, to sleep with her husband, in order to bear them a child. Ishmael was formed in Hagar’s womb and we all know how that turned out. To this very day, we suffer the consequences of that ungodly union.
My mom used to say to her girls, “Pretty is, is pretty does.” God’s Word tells us, “Man looks at the outside, but God looks at the heart.” Women are fearfully and wonderfully made by God Himself. Whether married or single, our Creator made man’s help mate beautiful on the outside and through His Son, will make us extraordinarily beautiful on the inside.
In spite of Sarai’s sin, to bring Hagar to her husband; the steadfastness of her faith; landed her a place in the Hall of Faith. Hebrews 11:11 states, “because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Willingly accepting the lifestyle of a Nomad, Sarai had followed Abraham to a land “they knew not of.” Her love for God and her man remained steadfast. The beauty of her faith in God, has been passed down to women through the ages.
2 Corinthians 4:16 tells us, “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.”
God is the only One who can make your faith legendary and your beauty extraordinary.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord, I am asking You to cultivate my inward beauty. I am believing You to make my faith extraordinary. In Jesus Name. Amen
