Fear No Evil

Devotion:  Psalm 23:4

My heart pounded as the gutteral chanting echoed in my ears. The sun shone brightly upon the Tibetan mountains, glistening on the yellow canola fields.  We were surrounded by the beauty of God’s glory, falling down on the saved and the unsaved; the Christian and the demon possessed.

Moments before the chanting started, one of the young monks, dressed in a red robe banged a large gong and the young Tibetan monks in training; hurried out to seat themselves, crossed legged, in front of the Tibetan High priest.  I watched the high priest’s eyes roll back in his head; right before he began to lead the monks to chant.  It was obvious he had a demon to enter his body; as the chanting echoed deeply into the souls of those nearby.  My missionary friend looked at the fear on my face and said, “Libby it’s as a tinkling symbol and a sounding brass.”  In other words, I should “fear no evil.”

Our Shepherd guards our hearts and is a shield about us every single moment.  Satan’s demons cannot touch us or harm us beyond what our God will allow.

The Tibetian buddhist monastery; is the largest in the world and is strategically placed in a valley, surrounded by magestic mountains.  It is indeed very strange to observe young and old alike, bow down before fifty foot idols, made of wood, gold and silver.  Offerings are thrown at their feet on a daily basis.  Some throw money.  Some throw food.  Others walk backwards and some bow down to the ground before these edifices.  They are just images.

Our God is real and He fights for us, even in the most evil situations.  He will take what Satan meant for evil and turn it out for our good and HIs glory.

*     God’s Word is sharper than any two edged sword.  Satan            hates; “what thus says the Lord our God.”  Hold fast to all            our Lord’s  promises.  They are yes and amen.

*      At the Name of Jesus, Satan has to flee.

*     “God is not a God of fear, but of power and of love and of a           sound mind.”

*     “No weapon formed against you can prosper.”

*      Do not fear.  Neither be afraid for the Lord your God is with           you; wherever you go.

Cling to these promises.  Say them aloud.  Never fear the one who was cast out of heaven.  He is a deceiver, a liar and the truth is not in him.  Plead the blood of Jesus, who shed His blood of atonement for you.  Do not fear.

Lord I will not fear what man can do to me.  You are my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
