Assurance

Standard

Devotion: Hebrews 3:14, Hebrews 6:11

Literally translated; the word assurance means “title deed.”  A title deed is a signed document; proving that we own the house, the property, or any said item.  In like manner, our faith is something we own, not just intellectually but it’s sealed in our hearts.

Our faith is not a blind faith; but abandoned faith, a faith that trusts God because of His proven character.  Hundreds of times in the Bible, God asks us to trust Him.  We can trust Him, only when we personally know Him.  If we have trusted Him with our eternal life; why would we not trust Him with our earthly life?  Is anything too hard for the Lord?

We draw blessed assurance from God’s Word rather than our feelings.  Our hearts are so easily deceived.  Why would we ever depend on our human, irrational feelings?  Linda Dillow says, “God’s Word is truer than anything we feel.  God’s Word is truer than anything we experience.  God’s Word is truer than any circumstance we will ever face.”

When you are lacking assurance; open His Word. Take your eyes off of yourself.  Ask God to build you up in your most Holy faith.  Your assurance is not in your circumstances.  It’s in the promises of the One who said:

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matt. 24:35)

“The word of the Lord stands forever.” (1 Peter 1:25)

Open up the pages of His Word.  His promises are yes and amen!  You will always find blessed assurance.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, thank You for being my blessed assurance.  Forgive me for the times I have focused on me instead of depending on Your Word that assures me, You are in control.  You will accomplish what concerns me.  Thank You Jesus that my assurance lies in You!  In Jesus Name.  Amen
