Words of Life

Devotion: Acts 5:20

The angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought out the apostles, to go speak words of life to the people.

“Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life.  Words of life and beauty, teach me faith and duty.  Beautiful words. Wonderful words.  Wonderful words of life.”  This is an old beloved hymn, full of rich theology.

You can speak life into desperate situations.  Speak hope to your areas of hopelessness.  Speak truth from God’s Word, to every lie you have believed.  Speak joy to every joyless person you know. Speak peace to the turmoil and strife in your life.

Life’s emotional roller coaster rips you up and down, without your permission.  You won’t always be on the mountain top.  It will drop you down so fast, your head will be spinning in a valley. There is only one way to keep your focus, even in the heat of the hottest battle.  Put your head and your heart into the Word of God. Speak it aloud; so that your ears will hear the powerful truth of what “Thus says the Lord.”

Open up the Psalms.  These songs are full of praise to God!  Fill your mind and heart with praises to the Lord your God.  Share these words of life, with those who are hopeless, those who’ve believed the lies of the world, those who’ve lost their joy; as well as to those who have no peace in their life.

Build yourself up in your most holy faith and encourage the discouraged people around you.  You have wonderful words of life, to offer to the saved and the unsaved.  Go and give them out!

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, may I  speak wonderful words of life to myself and to all those You have given me.  Thank You for all the words of life written down in your precious Holy Bible.  Teach me to walk out and give out, the wisdom I find in the pages of Your Word.
