Who Can Measure the Holy Spirit?

Standard

Devotion:  Isaiah 40:13

The lady said to me, “You cannot pray because you do not have the gift of tongues.”  We were huddled around a woman with cancer and although I was touching this dear lady, I was admonished for not possessing this gift.

God is a God without borders and without measure.  We cannot define Him or measure Him with our inadequate words or pictures.  We cannot grasp the height, depth and breadth of His great love for us. Also, we cannot measure how much of Him indwells us, by the spiritual gifts we possess.

The Spirit of the Lord brings conviction and repentance.  He is the One who dwells within us, when we invite Jesus into our hearts.  He has fruit.  Not the edible kind but the life changed kind.  Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Self Control.  All of these are evidence through the power of God’s Holy Spirit.

In us is no good thing, except God’s Holy Spirit.  Without Him, we can accomplish nothing spiritually significant.  He speaks life to death.  The Holy Spirit sustains us, during every trial, heartache and test of endurance.  We are raised to new life in Christ through His resurrection power.

When we pray to the Lord; it’s by His Spirit, we hear His voice. The Spirit of the Living God can fall freshly upon us on a daily, moment by moment basis.  It’s in our yielding to Him and operating through Him; that we can do the work of the ministry, to which He has called us.

Prayer in Motion

Lord, I pray I will operate in the power and strength of Your Holy Spirit alone.  You alone saved me.   You alone equip me to do Your bidding.  Your Holy Spirit is given without measure.  thank You Jesus for not leaving us comfortless.  You provided us with Your sweet Spirit.  I love You Lord.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
