Pray Boldly

Devotion:  Hebrews 4:16

Drawing near to the throne room with confidence means to come boldly to the throne of Jesus.  Pray like it depends on God.  It does.  Your bold prayers, those things impossible with men; are possible with God.  Do you find yourself in a place of holy desperation?  There is no one else, not yourself, not your mama, not your daddy, not your neighbor nor your friend, not your pastor, nor your teacher, NO ONE who can make this right for you.  Quite honestly, the only ONE who can turn this thing around, is God Himself.  It’s called Divine Intervention.  We all need it.  We need Him to intervene on our behalf.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.  The Bible says, “If we seek Him, we shall find Him, when we search for Him with all our hearts.”  Are you praying desperate prayers?  Are you believing God for the impossible?  He can make a way where there does not seem to be any other way.  My dear brother or sister, “lift up your heads unto the hills from whence comes your help. You help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.”  He’s the One, you are praying to.

Remember Thomas, the doubting disciple.  He would not believe that Jesus had resurrected, until he touched His hands and His side.  He needed proof.  You and I already have the proof that Jesus is alive and well, sitting at the right hand of the Father.  He lives to make intercession for us. Why would we pray weak, timid, ineffectual prayers?  The God we serve, the One who saved us; sees, hears and knows all about you.  He knows your deepest needs, wants and desires.  Pray to Him, evening, morning and at noon.

We must have confidence to come boldly before the throne room of grace, to find help in time of need.

Prayer in Motion:

Oh God, I cry out to You this day, for divine intervention. (Name the person or circumstance you are confidently praying about.)  I am trusting You to accomplish what concerns the person or situation, for which I am petitioning You.  Jesus, I am laying this at Your feet.  I am believing You for healing, restoration, provision, protection (or whatever you are praying for).  You are God alone. I will never stop praying boldly to You, my Lord and My God!  In Jesus Name.  Amen

The Lord’s Prayer and The 23rd Psalm

Devotion:  Matthew 6:9-13, Psalm 23

Several months ago, as I talked to the Lord; I said, Jesus, I would really love to lead another women’s retreat.  Lo and behold; the very next day my friend Kim called to ask if I would pray about leading a retreat for the women of her church.  I said “Kim, I don’t even have to pray.  I already asked God to open up a door of opportunity to lead a women’s retreat.  You are the answer to my prayer.”

The Lord nudged my heart to speak on the Lord’s Prayer and has added the 23 Psalm.  As always, I question my ability to hear His voice.  I began to question; “Will it be boring?” Everyone knows the Lord’s Prayer and the 23 Psalm; even non-Christians.

For the past three years; God has led me and a few other friends to do the Daniel fast; at the beginning of the year.  As much as I love to eat; I’ve begun to look forward to this precious time with the Lord and wonder how He will answer our prayers.  My friends and I have seen some pretty amazing things happen; during this three week time of drawing closer to God.  I will have to admit, He’s done the most in our personal and spiritual lives but what a way to begin the new year.

If God leads you; please feel free to join us, as we begin this time of seeking the Lord while He may be found, calling upon him while He is near.  It’s not a way of twisting God’s arm, or getting God to do what you want Him to do.

If you remember; Daniel and his friends ate only fruits and vegetables and drank water.  They were stronger than the other young men who ate the King’s food.  We want to pray strong, fervent, effectual prayers that avail much.

Let’s see the great and mighty things God will do as we begin 2016; praying, fasting, watching and waiting on Him. Try praying the Lord’s prayer found in Matthew 6:6-13 at least once a day. Then pray the 23 Psalm as well.  Pray them, don’t just say them. Ponder the words in your heart; as they make their way to the ears of the Lord.

As you examine these passages; look at how they both begin with praising the Name of the Lord our God.  “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.”  “The Lord is my Shepherd.” Both begin in praise and worship.  God says, “He inhabits the praises of His people.

Let’s try beginning our prayer time by acknowledging who He is…Holy: in the Lord’s prayer and Shepherd: in the 23 Psalm.  You have invited Him to come in to honor Him for who He is.  That’s where He dwells; in your praises.  If you can get a hold of that truth. Wow!  Your prayer life in 2016 is about to change in a powerful way!  Both passages end with the word “forever”.  This Holy Shepherd will be with us forever.  FOREVER!

Prayer in Motion:

It is my prayer that you will begin to dwell upon Your Holy Shepherd, as well as His “foreverness.”  May our prayer lives be forever changed as we pray through these scriptures together.

The Persistent Pray-er

Devotion:  Luke 18:1-5

God does not tell us what injustice took place in the widows life. There is one thing we know for sure.  She was persistent.  Although this judge did not fear God nor have any regard for man; because she continued to trouble him; he decided to avenge her.

Persistence paid off for this woman.  Even though the judge was not a just man; he gave in to her persistence.  She came continually.  She continued to ask.

She put into practice: Matthew 7:7: “Ask and it shall be given to you.  Seek and you shall find.   Knock and it shall be opened unto you.”  Verse 8 tells us “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened.  That sounds like a promise to me.

Is there a prayer you  have given up on praying?  You didn’t get the answer you wanted; so you gave up asking.  God’s answer might be yes, no or later.  Don’t give up.  Please keep on praying.  Our Judge is God Himself.  He does have regard for you.  He hears you asking, seeking and knocking. He created You to worship Him and have a relationship with Him.

The Lord wants you to keep on asking, keep on seeking, keep on knocking. Never give up.  There is more than just you involved. Your Judge is long suffering, kind and full of love for you and the person you are praying about.  So do not lose heart, nor grow weary in praying. Will you be persistent?

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, may I be persistent in prayer.  It’s You, my righteous Judge, that I am blessed to talk to.  Please give me courage to pray fervent effectual prayers that avail much.  I never want to give up on the people or situations for which I’m praying.  I know I have Your ear to hear my prayers from smallest to greatest. Thank You Lord!  In Jesus Name.  Amen

Pray Hard

Devotion: Lamentations 2:19

You’ve seen the tee shirt.  It’s a picture of jeans with worn out knees and underneath is this caption: “Life’s hard. Pray harder.” What does that mean; exactly?  I think it means; don’t give up. Pray without ceasing. Pray and faint not. Pray those fervent, effectual prayers that avail much.  When you’ve prayed for years and years; and nothing has changed; keep on praying.  Pray until you pray through.

There was a grandmother who was part of  Moms In Touch prayer group, who once say to me.  “I give up. I’ve prayed and I’ve prayed for my grandson and he keeps getting worse and worse. God isn’t doing anything.  I’m done.”  How sad.  She didn’t know if it would be the next day, the next year, or in the next ten years when God would answer her prayer.  We should never give up praying hard.  That’s what pray and faint not; means. Never give up. Never lose heart because you cannot see into the spiritual world. You don’t know what God is doing. You are clueless as to how God is going to answer your prayer but the answer is on it’s way.

Never lose heart.  Never lose hope.  Keep talking to the Father. Understand that God is a God who sees and hears you when you cry out to Him.  He sees your tears. He’s got them all in a bottle.  He is a God who is faithful to hear and answer our prayers.

Pray hard.  Pray as if your life depends upon it.  Pray as if the person’s life depends upon it.  Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift up your hands toward Him for the lives of your children….or your husband…or your grandchildren..or your brother or sister, or your mom or dad; whomever you are praying for, even your circumstances.

Everything is prayer worthy.  Nothing is too great or too small to talk about with your God.

Prayer in Motion

God, may I pray to You continually.  I pray the knees of my pants will wear out from praying to You over every single person, every single situation.  Lord I will pour out my heart to You and know that in Your time and in Your way, You will answer my prayer.  I love You Lord.  In Jesus Name.  Amen

Seeking Answers

Devotion:  Deuteronomy 4:29

Here is a quote from Mark Batterson’s book, The Circle Maker. “If you seek answers you won’t find them, but if you seek God, the answers will find you…There comes a point after you have prayed through; that you need to let go and let God. How?  By resisting the temptation to manufacture your own answer to your own prayer.”

Have you been praying for answers to a prayer for so long that you have given up?  The person or circumstance for which you’ve been praying hasn’t changed.  In fact, it seems to have worsened.  Do you give up or try to meddle in making something happen according to your will and your timing? NO!

Let go and let God accomplish what concerns the person or the circumstance.  It doesn’t mean you stop praying.  It just means as you pray, you are releasing the person and the circumstance to Him.  You seek the God behind the answer.  He has all the answers to every question, to every prayer need, to every hard thing going on in your life.

God loves surprising you.  He is the God of the impossible.  Who knows?  Maybe in 2016, you will get your answer.  His timing is perfect.  You cannot see the BIG picture.  God will accomplish what concerns you and your circumstances.

When you are seeking answers, you must end your petition with Romans 8:28.  God, I know that You are working this out for my good and Your glory.  According to John 15; “You remain in me and I in You” therefore;  I trust You with the outcome.  Another promise from Isaiah 40; As I wait upon You; You will renew my strength”…I seek You, my God with all the answers.

Prayer in Motion:

God, I praise You for the answers to all of life’s questions.  You hear every prayer.  You are in control of my life from beginning to end.  I wait with great anticipation and expectation, to see what You will do.  In Jesus Name.  Amen

Be Strong and Courageous

Devotion:  Joshua 1:9

My husband and I greeted each other Christmas morning with a kiss and an embrace; as well as a “Merry Christmas”.  It has been a precious 2015 week-end with our family.  We are so blessed to have our children and grandchildren live nearby.  We just love them so much!  It makes me pray for those who are estranged or possibly live far away from their children and grandchildren.

Looking back on 2015, there have been many struggles and challenges but God has been with us, just as He promised.  He is always with us; so we need not fear 2016.  No matter our circumstances, the Name of the Lord is a Strong Tower.  The righteous run into it, and they are saved….safe in the arms of the One; who is ever interceding for us, at the right hand of the Father.

Our God is strong and courageous.  The challenges that lie ahead; are not too difficult for Him.  He is already there; because He is Omnipotent, (All Powerful).  He is Omnipresent, (Always with us).  He is Omnicient. (He knows the beginning from the end.)  He can be trusted!

“Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine.  Oh what a foretaste of glory divine.  Heir of salvation, purchase of God.  Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.  This is my story.  This is my song. Praising my Savior, all the day long.”

You were purchased by God, for His glory.  (another song) “His strength is perfect when our strength is gone.  He’ll carry us, when we can’t carry on.  Raised in His power, the weak become strong.”

Your God waits; to pour strength and courage into your very soul.  He will supply your every need; according to His riches in Christ Jesus.  Lean upon His everlasting arms.  He never becomes tired or weary.  Trust in the One who is your strength and courage!

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, thank You for being my strength and courage!  I love You Lord and trust You with all my heart!  I know You will carry me both now and always!  In Jesus Name.  Amen

Christ is Born

Devotion: Luke 2:6-7

Jesus our Lord was born!  Everything changed!  He made a way for the lost to be found, the sin sick to be healed, the blind to see; and the souls of those who die in Christ; will go straight to heaven.  Oh what a Savior!  Let the earth hear His voice.

No wonder the angels sang.  The heavenly host were praising God. Myriads upon myriads of angels were glorifying God, praising God and saying; “Glory to God, glory to God in the highest!”

Peace was made possible, on earth, as it is in heaven.  Good will can now be spread to all men!  Greed and selfishness can be defeated. Our desperately wicked hearts can now be forever changed! The One who came to die for the sins of the whole world is born!  Those who believe on Him shall be saved for eternity but also given abundant life on earth.  He came that we “might have life and have it abundantly.”

“Christ, the Savior is born!” Who are You Lord?  Why would You come to save a wretch like me?  “I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.”  You came to open my blind eyes, continually restore my wicked heart, and draw me nearer, nearer, to You Jesus.

I want to close with a few lines from an old song. “How can I, say thanks for the things that You have done for me; things so undeserved, that You gave to prove Your love for me. The voices of a thousand angels could not express my gratitude. All that I am and ever hope to be, I owe it all to Thee.  To God be the glory!  With His blood He has saved me.  With His power He has raised me.  To God be the glory, for the things He has done.

Prayer in Motion:

Oh God, we rejoice that Christ is born!  This is the day we celebrate Your birth!  Thank You seems trite but THANK YOU LORD for coming, for me.  BEST GIFT EVER, I rejoice that You came and my name is now written in the Lamb’s book of life.  Glory, glory, hallelujah!  In Jesus Name I pray.  Amen!
