Honestly, I have never thought about the unity of God’s enemies. I know that God is sovereign. He will accomplish what He will accomplish, for the good of His Kingdom purposes. God promises to take what Satan meant for evil and turn it out for our good and His glory. (Genesis 15:20) Our God is greater. Our God is stronger, than his arch enemy will ever be! May our zeal for the Lord sustain us through ever trial, every heartache and every persecution.
The words of God will always be fulfilled. That’s what we have to remember, when we encounter persecution, or trials and tribulation. God stated as fact in His Word that, “In this world you will have tribulation but don’t be afraid, for I have overcome the world.”
We need to look to Abraham who waited in faith, in hope and belief that God would fulfill His promises. They are yes and amen. As Abraham waited for his own son to be planted in his wife Sarah’s womb, he grew impatient, slept with Hagar and an illigetimate child was conceived. We suffer the consequences of that decision to this day.
Here are three examples. Your family member, boss, friend or co-worker falsely accuses you. Your ears hear a doctor deliver a death sentence; to you or your loved one; as he pronounces the results of your medical testing. You are suffering the consequences of some bad decisions you made in the past.
- scream back in anger
- defend yourself
- make a plan for vengeful retaliation
Or you can:
- silently pray for wisdom
- Ask God to be your defender. Speak truth in love.
- Bless your enemy who falsely accuses you and says all manner of evil against you. Vengeance belongs to the Lord.
Which do you think will be more productive? The first three or the last three? God says, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17) God is your defender, protector and provider. He will only allow Satan and his demons to accomplish what will fulfill His Holy Word. No more. No less. God is still in control. No matter what!
Be as Abraham. Believe God and it will be counted unto you as righteousness.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord, I now understand that Your enemy can only accomplish what You allow to fulfill Your Word. Help me to trust in You with my whole heart and never lean on my own understanding. I will acknowledge You in every situation and know that You will order my steps and direct my path. In Jesus Name. Amen
