Of what are we to be mindful? God implores us to think on good things. Why do we allow the distraction of our circumstances; to always be at the forefront of our minds? The harsh/hard realities of life; will gladly and quickly crowd out the good and lovely thoughts.
It takes discipline to be mindful of the ways of the LORD. It takes disciplining your mind. When you take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ; you make a way! God has made a way through the power and strength of His Holy Spirit to renew and restore a right spirit within you. The Spirit of the Living God wants you to be successful in your mind.
Our thoughts; good, bad or indifferent, begin in the mind. Certainly, there are battles that rage in our heads. Those battles can serve to make you a fighter, a flag raiser or a believer in the One who has the victory.
I submit to you; practice, “taking every thought captive.” 2 Corinthians 10:5. When you take those harsh words said or actions captive; you see them from where they came from. It’s not from the one who builds you up, but desperately tries to tear you down. Replace them with God’s Word. You may have to practice saying the truth of what God says; many times, before it sinks into your soul.
God did not mean for our relationships to be fragmented and broken. However; we are broken people, living in a broken world. Unkind words and actions are going to happen. The important question to ask yourself is; “How will I respond?”
Begin to pour into your mind; the Word of God, that builds you up in your most holy faith. Concertedly seek them out in your concordances. Write them down. Put them in a place where you can readily pull them out, in your time of need. As He trains you to be mindful of your thoughts; His thoughts will become yours.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord Jesus, I need You now. Show me Your ways. Help me to be mindful of my thoughts. May Your thoughts become mine. In Jesus Name. Amen.
