It’s Not Fair!

Standard

Devotion:  Mark 8:11,27-36

It’s not fair!  We’ve heard it a million times.  We’ve probably said it a million times.

The people who were treating you wrongly may say, “Life is not fair.”  Those are not the words you were looking to hear.  If allowed;  unjust treatment can bring such pain and remorse inside of one’s head and heart.  It can create deep chasms in our soul; if not dealt with properly.

Our Lord Jesus was not treated fairly.  Even though perfect;  He was continually harassed by family, Pharisees, as well as government leaders.  How did He respond to all the taunting and name calling?  From child hood to death on the cross; He always responded the same.  Most of the time it was with silence.  Sometimes He would answer with a rhetorical question. What things could one possibly learn from unfair treatment?

                            Long suffering or patience

Unconditional love for the one who has treated you unfairly.

To exhibit joy to the world, in spite of unfair treatment.

Those attributes are not easy to display more than a nano second apart from God’s Holy Spirit.  Our Lord knows every time we are treated unfairly.  He will supply all the strength to endure and right responses at the very moment it is needed.  So before you say; “That’s unfair;” turn your thoughts toward Jesus and His words.  He will speak peace and help you find resolve even in your unfair treatment.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, I come before You this day; asking You for divine intervention.  You speak peace in the midst of the storms of my life.  I trust You to accomplish all that concerns me both now and for the rest of my days.  I love you Lord.  In Jesus Name. Amen
