I heard a quote made by a man named Dr. Jack Hudson. Now in heaven; He was the founder and former pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. He said, “People need loving the most; when they deserve it the least.” Those words struck a chord inside my very soul.
I began to think of God’s unconditional love for us. He knew us and chose us before the foundation of the world. “For God so loved the world; that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Hurt people hurt other people.
It’s the response of our sinful flesh. But what does it really accomplish? How does hurting someone else; justify the pain of the original hurt? In God’s economy; IT DOESN’T! Rather than relieving your hurt; it compounds the existing pain.
When you think of the way God loves you; would is please Him, for you, His child, to hurt others with your words and actions? You were created for God’s own pleasure. He loves you every second of everyday; UNCONDITIONALLY! Shouldn’t our response be the same?
The Bible says, “Love covers a multitude of sin.” Freely, God gave us His only begotten Son, to die in our place. Freely, we should forgive and love the way Christ first loved us. He loved us while we were yet sinners. He was bruised for our transgressions and by His stripes we are healed. He was HURT for your sins against Him.
Jesus can handle any hurt or pain you may experience while living in this world. He alone can heal.
The world will know we are Christians by our love.
Prayer in Motion:
Jesus, thank You for teaching me and training me in righteousness. Thank you for loving me when I was unlovable. You took my hurt upon Your own shoulders and it is by Your stripes I am healed. I love You and ask that You would continue to teach me to love others with this kind of unconditional love. In Jesus Name. Amen
