Two years ago, as my granddaughter was introduced to her new pre-school teacher; her mom asked; “What do you say to your teacher Ryann?” Ryann responded by saying, “I made a bad choice.” We laughed out loud at her response. She had obviously made some sort of bad choice before coming to pre-school and it was still fresh on her mind.
We’ve all made bad choices in our lives. Choices that result in consequences. Sometimes our choices are informed and other times uninformed. Sometimes when pressed for a resolution; we make un-prayed about, uninformed choices. They seem to be the right ones at the moment but hind sight being 20/20; turns out we were wrong.
How can we move forward? Just like Ryann; we confess we made a bad choice and then we begin to aright the wrong. If need be; we go to the person or people we wronged, to begin the restitution process. This involves confession and repentance. Two words we rarely hear anymore. Both involve freeing the captive. Our enemy desires to hold us captive with sin and guilt however:
1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sin; He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Ask God to search your heart to see if there is any wicked way in you. Then confess it and know that you are cleansed and made whole.
Prayer in Motion:
Oh God, I want to make informed choices. May I talk to You about ever major decision. I long to walk in Your ways and to know Your will for my life. May I stay in Your Word, talk to You and then listen, so I will make informed choices. In Jesus Name. Amen
