For those of you who sew; a remnant is the part of the cloth left over after the item you are making is done.
Webster’s definition of a remnant; is a part of something that is left when the other parts are gone. In this instance; God is speaking of believers. Many saints have gone before us; whose names are recorded in the Lamb’s book of life. If you have a personal relationship with Jesus; you are part of the remnant of Jesus. He’s not finished with you yet. Your heavenly home awaits your homecoming. But until then:
“What are we; as the remnant, to be doing?”
Here’s a few things God asks of us.
- “To do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly before the Lord your God.” Micah 6:82.
- ” Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
- ” You are to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.” Matthew 22:37
God tells us we will be “known by our fruit.” Can people tell a difference in your life; from the rest of the world? Do they know you are Christian by your love, your actions and reactions, your conversation?
We are to be:
“Holy and set apart.” Leviticus 20:7
“Fruit bearing.” John 15:16
“Joyful” Psalm 35:9
“Thankful” Ephesians 5:20
These are just a few of the attributes, the remnant is to display. Thank the Lord you were called to be a part of the remnant for such a times as this.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord Jesus, thank You for making me part of the remnant. You chose me before the foundation of the world to be Your child. Jesus, I love You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. I am filled with joy and thanksgiving. Because I am holy and set apart unto You; may I always be fruit bearing. In Jesus Name I offer up this prayer and for His sake alone. Amen
