Stories of Survival

Standard

Devotion: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Although I haven’t seen the reality show Survival; I’ve seen the advertisements.  A group of people are placed in a remote area; to see who can survive the elements.

Stories of survival become a source of strength for those who live to tell them.  When someone tells their survival story; it fills our own hearts with hope.  The greatest trials can become our greatest testimonies!  The Lord Himself longs to use your story; to help build another person up in their most holy faith.

Clayton King in his book Stronger states, “faith replaces fear, but not without a fight.”  If we allow it, fear will move in and take over.  If we will share our stories, “how we overcame”, God will use them to inspire and encourage those whom He has given us.

The affliction you are going through today can be used for good tomorrow. What Satan meant for evil can turn out for our good and God’s glory.  God promised to bring His own strength to those who cry out to Him in their weakness.

Sing to the Lord this song, “His strength is perfect when our strength is gone.  He’ll carry us when we can’t carry on.  Raised in His power, the weak become strong….”

God knew your days before there was one of them.  Although He did not cause your afflictions, He allowed them.  Don’t be ashamed of your past.  When you share the victories, give God the glory.

Ask God to show you with whom you may share your story.  For some of you; it will be in front of groups of people.  For others, it will be one on one, in the grocery store, the bank parking lot or the mall.  Ask God to open your eyes to see the lost and hurting. They are all around us.

Go tell your story!

Prayer in Motion:

Jesus, may I be listening with the ear of a disciple.  Who would You give me this week?  I want to encourage and equip those You have ordained; for me to share Your story.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
