Real Joy

Standard

Devotion: Hebrews 12:2

Do you know people who seem to be joyful no matter their circumstances?   I’ve watched many Christ followers bear up under the most horrific circumstances.  These brothers and sisters in Christ have endured tragedy, cancer, loss of jobs or relationships and yet they exhibit real joy.

What is the foundation of this kind of faith?  It doesn’t just happen.

These people build themselves up in their most holy faith.

                                               How?

Love alone proceeds joy, in the nine attributes of the Holy Spirit. The foundation of Christ is love.  The Bible tells us, “God is love.”  Have you heard people say jokingly, “I don’t like people?” The very heart of God is love.  When you love God with all your heart and love the people He has placed in your sphere of influence, you will exhibit joy.

                                                Why?

1 Peter 1:7-9  “so that the [a]proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which [b]is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and [c]full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of [d]your souls.”

For many years, I allowed my circumstances to rule my countenance. Satan will gladly steal your joy, if you allow him. Jesus endured the cross, despising the shame…Why?  “for the joy set before Him.”

You are a victorious warrior.  You endure_________________ for the joy set before you.  You alone can fill in that blank.  The out come will be the salvation of your soul.  Eternal life.  With your Savior forever.  For the love of God and the people He has given you; choose to exhibit real joy.

Prayer in Motion:
Oh God, may I endure any circumstance You have allowed; for the joy set before me.  Teach me to number my days, that I may present to You a heart filled with joy.  “Joyful, joyful, I adore You, God Almighty, Lord of love.”  In Jesus Name.  Amen
