The Arm of the Lord

Standard

Devotion:  Isaiah 53:1

Think of all the ways you use your arms.  I’m sad when I see people who have none.  They eat, drive, write; do all that they do, with their feet and toes.  I’ve seen it with my own eyes.  I’ve witnessed a woman serving tables with one arm.  I met a man in Amsterdam who had no arms. As we talked; he drank his coffee, holding his mug with his toes.  He did it as confidently as if you and I were using our hand and arm.

Think about how many times a day; your arm reaches to pick up something.  You feed yourself, dress yourself, climb up, clean up, and hold your people with those God given arms.  The functions of the arm are many.

The arm of the Lord works for those who are armless and                strengthens those whose arms are weak.

The arm of the Lord has been revealed to us through our blessed Redeemer; the One who stretched out His arms, to bring all people unto Himself.

The arm of the Lord is mentioned many times throughout God’s Word.  Here are several of the scriptures.

Psalm 98:1 says, “O sing to the Lord a new song, For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.”

… all because of His willingness. The arm of the Lord is always reaching out to those He created.  He wants you to experience victory through His power and might.

Deuteronomy 5:15  “You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm;…”

We were all slaves to our own sin; until the outstretched arm of God’s Son was revealed to us.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow!  Hallelujah!

Isaiah 52:10 “The Lord has bared His holy arm In the sight of all the nations, That all the ends of the earth may see The salvation of our God.”

The whole earth will have the opportunity to receive salvation!  Why?  …because the Lord bared His holy arm.  Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

Prayer in Motion:

Oh God, I worship You this day.  It is the one You have made.  I will rejoice and be glad in it.  Thank You for Your holy arm that reached out to me.  You drew me to Yourself by Your outstretched arm.  All the praise, honor, glory and blessing belong to You, my Lord and my God.  Jesus, may You receive this prayer.  Amen!
