There are different interpretations of this future day; the day called, The Day of the Lord.
Let’s look at these words in their Hebraic meaning.
- Day is Yowm which means to be hot as in the warm hours of the day, sunrise to sunset.
- of the Lord Is Jehovah Jireh…Self Existent or Eternal
- is near…qarowb, near in place, at hand
- in the valley is emeq…it means a dale, or broad depression
- of decision is charuwts, means diligent, determination, a trench as dug, gold as minded, or sharp threshing instruments.
Joel 2:11 calls the day of the Lord great and very terrible.
Joel 2:31 says: “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.”
Isaiah 13:6 tells us to “Wail, for the day of the LORD is at hand.”
2 Peter 3:10 tells us: “the day of the LORD will come as a thief in the night,”
1 Corinthians 1:8 says, “who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Scripture was given for doctrine and reproof.
The Day of the Lord is imminent as is the Bema Seat Judgement for Christians. This judgement is not to judge Christians for their sins because there is no condemnation, for those of us who are in Christ Jesus. It is for the soul purpose of examining their works.
The Great White Throne Judgement is reserved for the unsaved and will happen after tribulation has ended. This is the Judgement of the wicked. Both times are coming; for those of us who believe and those who do not.
Multitudes, multitudes are in the valley of decision. The day of the Lord is coming. Be diligent to share this great and terrible truth with those in your sphere of influence. People need to get ready; Jesus is coming.
Prayer in Motion:
Oh God, please put this on my heart daily, least I forget the day of the Lord is near. Bring people across my path who need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. May I be faithful to share it. Our redemption draws nigh. In Jesus Name. Amen
