Louder than Words

Devotion:  1 Samuel 2:3

Do actions speak louder than words?  God knows a lot more than we do. About you.  About what He’s allowing to be said and done.  He’s our Creator and Redeemer.  He knows our thoughts before we think them.  He is mindful we are but dust.

Words can be flattering or devastating.  Words can be painful or edifying.  Words can bring together or separate.  Words can bring re-actions; sometimes good ones and other times bad ones.

Words stir up emotions.  What kind of words will you say?  How will you react to the words you hear?

We can talk about what has been done to us; or we can leave it with God.  Sometimes it’s hard to understand why people say what they say and do what they do.  We all have different temperaments; as well as different levels of patience and endurance.

Christians are inhabited by the same Holy Spirit; but we still live in this flesh.  We must give each other grace and lots of it. Choose to remember these words of our Lord: “To whom much is given; much is required.”

Our flesh thinks; “It’s my right.”  God’s Word says; “We must die to ourselves” and lay down our rights.   Our flesh fights against dying to itself.   We must “choose this day whom we will serve”; ourselves or our Savior.

We can walk around angry, feeling sorry for ourselves or choose joy.  The Lord longs for His joy to be your strength.  We can actually choose to have a “merry heart”.  It will be like medicine to your soul.  Your heart will know it and your face will show it. In that moment; God will be honored and glorified!

Words pierce the heart and actions reveal the heart.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, thank You for making a way to allow my words and actions to be pleasing to You.  I want to die daily to my flesh; so that You will be honored and glorified.  I’ve tasted and seen that the Lord is good.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
