The Lord our Healer

Devotion:  Matthew 4:23

My husband and I have had a stomach bug.  It is no fun.  We are; shall I say, a little green around the gills.  This is not a twenty four hour bug.  It’s a four to seven day flu bug, whose intent is to hang on and make you as miserable as possible.

Thankfully; these things are short lived.  It makes you rest; whether you want to or not, because it steals the wind out of your sails.

The kind of sickness I’m talking about can be a death sentence. Cancer, M.S., heart disease, sickle cell anemia; the list can go on and on.  These are sicknesses only God can heal totally and completely.  These people can go into remission but He alone can heal and restore their bodies like new.

Jehovah Rapha is His Name.  The Lord our Healer.  He heals all our diseases.  When He heals; there is no question that He did it.  I met a young man in China who was healed instantly.  He had just prayed to receive Christ.  When the person who led him to Christ baptized him; he had a bone showing gaping open wound,  on his leg. When he came up out of the water; his leg was like new. Totally and completely healed; he had not ask Jesus to heal him.  God chose to heal him to prove to this young man He is real.

It’s certainly behooves us to ask for healing.  God promises He will accomplish what concerns us.  He says; “We have not because we ask not or we ask with wrong motives.”  Healing is in His wings. The same nail scarred hands that bring spiritual healing can also bring physical healing.

Without faith it’s impossible to please the Lord and without faith it’s impossible for the Lord to hear our prayers. He says “Faith the grain of a mustard seed can move mountains.”  A mustard seed is a really tiny seed.

There are those who have the gift of faith.  They believe God for great and mighty things with such ease; seemingly never a doubt, that God will do anything, other than what they ask.

God will do what He says He will do.  I choose to believe He still performs miracles.  Miracles may not be the norm because our faith is weak.  After all; “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Jesus rescues the perishing.  He cares for the dying.  He finds and saves the lost.  He brings emotional healing to the distraught.  He the Lord our Healer.

Prayer in Motion:

Oh God, thank You for healing my sin sick soul.  Thank You for bringing healing to my body just at the right time.  You know my needs even before I ask.  Lord, I trust You with all the days of my life.  You knew them before there was one of them.  You are my Healer.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
