Chap Stick or Glue Stick

Standard

Devotion:  James 1:26

Some people are addicted to using chap stick. There are a million different brands and flavors and when I need it; I am very thankful to have it.

Can I say I love glue sticks?  I guess I just did.  They are great when doing crafts with my grandchildren.  It bonds quickly and there is no gooey, yucky mess that you seem to have with liquid glue.

My friend Linda forwarded a message on Facebook.  It read…”Some people should use a glue stick instead of chap stick.  Uh Oh.  The truth can sting a bit.

Truth be told; this statement could apply to all of us at one time or another.  If our lips would stay glued shut at the appropriate times;  maybe they wouldn’t become so chapped!

The book of James has a lot to say about the tongue.  It is as a fire.  Words pierce our souls to the deepest level.  Why do the harsh ones forever play like a tape recording in our minds?  Over and over like a dripping faucet; they carve doubt, dis-satisfaction and fear in our hearts.   At some point; we open our mouths, to share what our minds have been dwelling upon.  What spills out? Exactly what your enemy wants to spill out, doubt, dis-satisfaction and fear.  “God is not a God of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Get out the GLUE of God’s Word.  Let It settle into every       crack and crevice of your broken, wounded heart.  It will literally make you stronger.

Your soul will fare much better and your lips will be a whole lot less chapped; from all the negative talking.

If you will but listen for God’s voice; heed His wisdom before you speak, close your word hole, you may not even need the chap stick.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if God’s Word flowed out of our mouths; as easily as the lies we’ve chosen to believe about ourselves?  I would much rather my lips stay glued tight, than for the fountain of lies to flow out of the same source.  God created us for His honor and glory.  It is not His will for bitterness, anger and fear to splash out onto all who are around us;.  To allow this atrocity; we bring dis-honor to the One who crafted us in His image.

Prayer in Motion:

Oh Lord our Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth. You are worthy, worthy, worthy to be praised, honored and glorified.  Please forgive me for all the times, corrupt communication has come out of mouth regarding myself or anyone else.  May I apply the glue stick more readily; so that I don’t have to apply the chap stick as often.  Thank You Lord.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
