Is there anyone in your life for whom you are praying constantly for their salvation? Jesus “came to seek and to save that which was lost”. “It is not His will that any man should perish without Him.” No not one! Ask yourself if you praying those “fervent, effectual prayers that avail much?” Are you “pouring out your heart like water before the face of the Lord and lifting up your hands toward Him” for the lost?
In our passage today, what are the three things for which the Holy Spirit will convict the unsaved? The Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. The Scripture even explains why.
- Conviction of sin comes through the power of Christ’s Holy Spirit.
- Conviction of righteousness… In Christ alone is righteousness. Without Him; every man feels righteous in his own eyes. He is now at the right hand of the Father; ever interceding for us.
- Conviction of judgment because the ruler of this world is judged.
Many times the lost do not even comprehend their lostness. John 1:5 says; “And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” We are compelled by the great commission to “Go and tell.” We pray for the lost person. We pray for courage and the anointing of the Holy Spirit to be upon us as we share the message of the gospel. We ask God to prepare his or her heart.
We are responsible to give out the gospel. The Holy Spirit’s job is to convict and bring to repentance. Don’t feel defeated if the person does not come to Christ. We are to share the good news of Jesus Christ. You are sowing seeds of righteousness in the person’s life. You may be one of many who witness to this lost person. 1 Corinthians 3:6 Paul said; “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”
You keep praying and sharing the gospel. God will give “the increase.”
Prayer in Motion:
Lord teach me to pray those fervent, effectual prayers for the lost, especially as Your Day draws nigh. You long to see them saved even more than I do. With Your courage and strength; I will pray and give out Your Words of Life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
