Futile to Fatal

Standard

Devotion:  Ephesians 2:1-10

I feel so sorry for families who lose members who are without Christ.  What can you possibly say?  I can’t think of one encouraging word.  To refuse to accept Christ is such a futile thing!  It becomes a fatal choice when a person never invites Jesus into their heart.

It is always possible for a heart of stone to become a heart of flesh.  Never give up on praying for a lost soul.  Remember Paul who persecuted hundreds of Christians.  When he encountered Christ on the Damascus Road, his stony heart became softened. God changed his name from Saul to Paul; who then wrote most of our New Testament.

Time keeps ticking away.  If you personally know one who has a heart of stone; pray with all your might.  Ask God for courage and opportunities to share the truth of the gospel with him or her. It is not God’s will that any man or woman should perish without Christ.

God created no one to spend eternity separated from Himself. He created everyone to have a personal relationship with His Son Jesus. He longs for His creation to have abundant life on earth and to spend eternity with Him after death.  That is why He longs for everyone to have the opportunity to accept Jesus into their heart.

While there is life and breath in the bodies of those you love; speak life to their souls.  Tell them how Jesus changed your life. He longs to restore the years the locusts have eaten.  He will give, “beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for  mourning, peace for despair.”  He longs to bestow “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control into the lives of His created beings.”

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, may ___________________ (place your loved one’s name) not hold onto a life that is futile.  I can hardly bear the thought of his/her life leading to fatality, eternally separated from You.  Lord, help me to never give up on praying for him/her. Help this critical matter to stay in the forefront of my mind and on my heart.  I know that You Jesus, are ever interceding for my loved one.  I trust You Lord.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
