I Belong to the King

Standard

Devotion:  Matthew 27:29

The inscription on the Cross of Christ read; “The King of the Jews.” He was.  However; the description of Jesus was meant to poke fun at the Savior of the World.  The soldiers who had tortured our Lord were shouting things like; “If You are God, what prohibits You from bringing Yourself down off that cross?”  After blindfolding Him; they began to strike Him and ask Him; “Who is hitting You?”  He knew, but like a lamb before its slaughterer; He said not a word. You belong to the King.

The King of the world was in fact doing what He came to do.

Our Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent Lord was at this point, unrecognizable.  He had been tortured for hours.  Do you realize every word of slander, every tear in His skin, every cruel blow to our sinless Savior; was willingly accepted by Him on your behalf?  You belong to the King.

Do you know for certain that you belong to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?  He took your sin as His own and endured the cross while despising the shame.  King Jesus cried out to His Father; “My God, My God why have You forsaken Me?”  You belong to the King.

You possess royal blood running through your veins.  Christians who are the poorest of the poor still belong to the King.  The ground is level at the foot of the cross.  Earthly impoverished believers possess way more than the richest of the rich non -believers. Prosperity gospel preaching men do not believe there are any poor Christians.  Obviously, they haven’t been to Africa, Guatemala, China and India, to name a few countries who are inhabited by the poorest of the poor Christians who declare, “We belong to the King.”

Prayer in Motion:

I belong to You Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  You are the most wonderful King who ever walked on this dusty earth.  I will never get over the fact that I belong to the King of the world.  I love You Jesus.  Amen
