What is a sprinkle? This could refer to a sprinkle of rain, or a sprinkle of a spice into a recipe. My grandchildren love to sprinkle iced cookies or cupcakes with sugary, colorful sprinkles. Sometimes they get a little heavy handed when adding this extra sweetener.
The sprinkle we are talking about today comes from Isaiah 52:15. Isaiah the prophet was talking about the blood of Jesus that will sprinkle many nations. There are people from every tongue and every tribe who come to faith in Christ as a result of His obedience to death on the cross.
This was not small thing. Under the Old Covenant, the blood of goats and bulls was sprinkled on the door posts; so the death angel would not kill the the first born son in those houses. Although it was the blood of an animal; that animal had to be without spot or blemish.
When Christ blood was spilled at Calvary; His perfect sinless, God-Man self, covered over our sin. We are not perfect but His blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness. The sentence of eternal separation is put into place on our account. When we confess and repent of our sins and invite Jesus into our heart; we get to have eternal life! Now there’s a sprinkle with great consequence.
Jesus Christ was martyred for you! He gave His sinless life willingly. He loves you with an everlasting love. With every stripe placed on His back, every nail placed in His hands and feet, the thorny crown shoved hard down on His head, and the spear piercing His side; He said, “I love you.”
The blood that fell that day at Calvary, has brought to salvation millions of lives. His death is not just a tale; it’s the truth of the gospel of our Savior. If you do not know Him; please ask Him to come into your heart today.
Prayer in Motion:
Jesus, thank You for the gift of salvation. Thank You for sprinkling me clean. It is by Your stripes I am healed, spiritually and any other way You wish to heal me. I get to have joy unspeakable and full of glory on this earth as well as eternal life in heaven with You. Oh what a Savior. I love You Lord. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen
