I recently purchased a fake owl to try and scare off the squirrels from my bird feeder. That fake owl is loud and makes a “who-who” every time a person or animal walks past it. Trouble is; these squirrels are smart and have already figured it out. Some how, they know it’s not real. They knocked that little fake owl over and climbed right back up into the bird feeder. I saw one squirrel just standing there gazing at its fake self.
So much for trying to scare them off. I think this fake bird has drawn more of them to himself.
More importantly; people want others to be real with them. It’s so hard to deal with fake folks. Fake goes all the way to the bone, just like that owl. Fake people make all sorts of real and loud declarations, but when life gets hard; they can’t commit to the real situation. They can’t handle real life because they only know how to pretend or be fake.
You see a real owl would swoop that squirrel up so fast, he wouldn’t know what hit him but a fake one can only stand and say “who, who.” Who can I fool?
How does the squirrel know the difference? He gets to live. There is no swooping or taunting by a fake owl. Fake can’t produce what real can. Fake only makes NOISE!
It’s the same with our enemy. He delievers fake news. He convinces us it’s true. We start to believe the lies or fake news. We allow that news to continually swirl in our head till we begin to discount the real truth.
Our Father tells us the truth in His Word. He is for us and not against us. He wants us to be real with Him, ourselves and the people He has given us. We can’t pretend to be something or someone we are not. Fake is a loser and Real is a winner.
What is real in your life? You may have hard circumstances or be dealing with bitter disappointment. What matters the most is who is real in your life. Tell it to Jesus. Tell Him about your real problems. He will never leave you high and dry with fake news about yourself or your problems. He will always tell you the truth in love.
Prayer in Motion:
Thank you Lord; for being a real God who I can always turn to. You promised You would never leave me nor forsake me. Never! You are always up front and never try to trick me. No weapon formed against me by my enemy shall ever prosper. That comes from the One who is the Word! The final word is always yours. I believe You, not my enemy. In Jesus Name. Amen
