Begging for the Gospel

Standard

Devotion:  Acts 13:42-47

The Gentiles are begging to hear the message being preached to the Jews.  Paul and Barnabas said; it’s necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first, (the Jews).  In the middle of the sentence comes a {but}.  The word but indicates something went wrong.  Boy, did it ever.

Paul and Barnabas said, “Since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.”  There are serious consequences to rejecting the gospel message of Jesus Christ.  People all over the world are waiting to hear this life and death message.

One of Webster’s definitions for beggar is as follows: “to exceed the resources or abilities of.”  In our ability we cannot give or receive the gospel message.  Only through the power and strength of God’s Holy Spirit can we be drawn to HIm.

For what are you begging today? Are you begging Him for a job? Are you begging Him for physical healing, or maybe both? Are you begging God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven? Are you begging Him for the salvation of a lost one’s soul?  I’m entreating you to beg for what is eternal.

“God says in His Word, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you.”  Do we really believe this to be true?  We quote it all the time but (There’s that word “but” again!) do we believe it?

Please beg God for the salvation of souls first and foremost.  It is critical that you ask.  He says; “We have not because we ask not or we ask with wrong motives.”  Let’s be strong and courageous and ask Him for the souls of the lost.  Let’s ask Him to bring us to those who are hungering and thirsting for the gospel message, so we may share the truth of God’s greatest gift!

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, please put me in someone’s path who needs to hear the truth of the gospel this very day.  May I be strong and courageous to speak it out through the power and strength of Your Holy Spirit.  May I be watching and listening for Your still small voice when You say, “That’s the one, right there.”  May I share this wonderful truth spoken to me. In Jesus Name.  Amen
