Who Is On the Lord’s Side?

Devotion: Exodus 32:26

Moses was one of the greatest leaders to ever live.  Although far from perfect, God used him to lead the Israelites through the wilderness.  With fearless faith; he led God’s people in the way they should go.

The Israelites had watched as Moses spoke to a rock; for much needed water, win battles as they held up his hands and then lifted his staff to part the Red Sea in order for God’s people to escape the Egyptian army.

Many Christians today have so blended with the ways of the world; it’s hard to tell who is on the Lord’s side.  God tells us in His Word, to come out of the world and be set apart. We are to be holy as He is holy.  We are to have no other idols before Him.

While Moses was up on the mountain communing with His Lord, the people became restless.  They knew the mountain was where he went to be with the Lord their God but felt rejected anyway by Moses and God.

Moses brother Aaron agreed to collect all the gold and silver from the people to build a golden calf.  A golden calf was built to replace the Lord their God.  God told Moses what was going on. God was furious and ready to destroy His own people.

Moses reasoned with God, the Egyptians will say, “Did God deliver His people through the Red Sea for destruction?”  Moses had encountered God on that mountain and God listened to His servant’s voice.

Moses stood at the entrance of the camp and asked; “Who is on the Lord’s side?”  All the Levites came forward, then they were given the task of killing all the others.  About 3,000 were slain that day.

God does not take idolatry lightly.   If we are not for Him, we are against Him.  Can the world tell that you are different?

Prayer in Motion:

God, I am for You.  I am on Your side.  I long to be Holy and set apart unto You.  I repent of any form of idolatry, putting any person or anything before You and Your ways.  You are the Lord my God.  May I hear you say; “Who is on My side?”  May I run to You both now and always.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
