Power of the Gospel

Devotion:  Romans 1:16

God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly beyond what we could ask or think or imagine.  The past can be hard to shake but in spite of all that is happening in our world; there will be people that God will save.  He can overcome the past.  He can overcome present mis-understandings.  He is able to save and He does.  God is always at work saving and growing His people.

The gospel does not fit into neat categories.  It offends the self-righteous and the pagan alike.  We should not be surprised when people dislike us if we live a gospel-focused life because many of the people in our culture fit into one of those two categories, either stuck on their traditions or living for their own pleasure.

Do not be surprised at the fiery ordeals among you.  Never despair to the point you start to wane from the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Never give up on believing that there is any man for whom the gospel is not fit.  Do not cut, trim, shape nor alter it’s message.

I am absolutely certain of this one thing.  If you bring out the whole truth as God taught it to you; you can rest assure that you will be unto God a sweet savor of Christ in every place, both to them who are saved and to them who are not.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, may I never lose heart in the power of the gospel.  It is what brought salvation to me and to all those who are perishing.  I love You Lord. I have needed You from my life’s first breath and will need You till my final one. I love You with all of my heart.  May I always listen with the ear of a disciple.  In Jesus Name.  Amen

    • Oh Lisa my heart is broken. I’ve desperately wanted to talk to you. I resigned as SS teacher Sunday and we can no longer go to our church. It’s so sad. We don’t even know what to do….I love my girls in SS. They are heart broken as well…..Have to be at Kelli’s at 9:30 this morning but you can call me anytime. Thanks for praying my friend. I thought maybe you could recommend a book on the “broken church.” We have to start over looking for the church God would have us to do life with. Thinking we could hide at a church not to far from us, because it’s a church from First Assembly, we went there. We had only just opened the door and I heard “Libby Williams.” The message was powerful from Hebrews 1 …. The words of the songs ministered to us deeply. I had a hard time with one woman who was screaming so loudly and in tears…..but then I thought, I don’t know what God has delivered her from….The pastor is teaching from Hebrews the next 6 weeks so we are going to hear what the Spirit of the Lord has to speak through him. Just pray my friend. Just pray. I love you dear.
