Messy people are going to be in your life. Here’s the startling news. We all are messy in one way or another. We are either physically, emotionally or spiritually messy. We have different ways of thinking about things. Some of us were created to think more methodically. Others of us are less structured in our day to day operation; having more of a free spirit. May I say; it takes both kinds? We need to work together to accomplish God’s kingdom purposes.
“We are each fearfully and wonderfully made.” God created us as a package deal. Short, tall, lean, chubby genes course through our systems. Slow and fast metabolisms are walking by you everyday. Do you judge these people by their metabolism? No! Why not? Because it’s hidden. It’s not something you can see.
There are things you can see: cleanliness, in body and how a person keeps their car, their house, their yard. Do we judge that? Yes. Why? Because our eyes behold the outward appearances of those things. Not that we should but we do it anyway.
Still, we do not know what’s going on inside of that person. We must remember God tells us not to judge lest we be judged. Each person comes from different up bringing and possibly even a different culture. Each one has his or her own mind set that only God can change. “To whom much is given; much is required.” We have been given grace by God; so we must give it.
We aren’t going to love all people the same. We are to “do unto others as we do unto ourselves.” Jesus had twelve disciples around Him most of the time. Even within those twelve; He called John His “beloved disciple”.
Here’s the thing. We are all created equal in the eyes of God. We truly are a package deal. What you see is what you get. However, Jesus Christ can take a heart of stone and turn it into a heart of flesh. When we invite Him into our lives, we become a new creature in Christ.
Who has God placed in your sphere of influence? Can you look at them through the power of the Holy Spirit within you? Can you respond by giving them some grace?
Has God poured out His riches at Christ’s expense upon you? Yes He has. Remember you are a package deal and so are the people He’s given you. Give them the grace you have received.
Prayer in Motion:
Lord Jesus; help me to love and accept the people You have given me as a package deal. They are all precious to You and to me. My heart’s desire is to pour out the same grace You have poured out upon me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
