Manipulation

Devotion: 1 Corinthians 4:10

Do you ever get weary with people manipulating your emotions? Do you make a practice of manipulating people to get them to do what you want them to do?  I certainly hope not.  No one wants to be manipulated.  Like your mama used to say, “That’s not nice.”

Here’s the bigger question.  Why do you allow people to manipulate your emotions?  God made us emotional people. There are the emotions of love, hate and all the ones that fall in between.  The Lord means for us to operate out of love.  We are to hate the sin but love the sinner.  You know why?  Because.

“We all sin and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

We’ve all been guilty of manipulating people to get what we want.  Some people are more easily manipulated than others. We have to keep our soul’s conscience in check.  We are to “Judge not, lest we be judged.”  Depending upon your personality; you may be more susceptible to being manipulated.

Who is the manipulator of all manipulators?  Satan himself.  The Bible says he “prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.”  Of course he does not speak audibly; however, he knows our weak spots and will try to get us to succumb to his tactics.  He uses people to accomplish his mission.

“When we are weak, God is strong.” 1 Corinthians 4:10

Just remember God does not want you to be manipulated by Satan or anyone on this earth.  He desires that you be strong. Give your emotional well being to Him.  Practice building yourself up in your most holy faith.  Memorize His promises written out for you in His Word.  Hide them in your heart.  Pray them aloud over yourself.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, help me to practice being strong in You and in the strength of Your might.  May I hide Your Word in my heart so that I will not sin against You or anyone else.  Help me to refuse to manipulate people or to be manipulated.  In Jesus Name.  Amen
