Stilling Your Soul

Devotion:  1 Kings 19:11-12

I stay so busy during our Holy time of Christmas that rarely am I still.  I am choosing to still and quiet my spirit right this moment; listening for the voice of my Savior, leaning in, listening intently for what He will speak.

God wants to speak to you, my dear reader.  He has something to say.  He wants to pour out words of encouragement.  He longs to speak words of life.  He will restore what the enemy has stolen.

Does your heart long for quiet solace?  There’s an old hymn with powerful words based on The Word of God.  “There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God.  A place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.  Oh, Jesus blessed Redeemer, sent from the heart of God.  Hold us who wait before Thee, near to the heart of God.”

Do you long to hear your Savior’s voice?  God, draw us nearer blessed LORD.  I want to learn how to wait before You LORD; to listen closely, expectantly.  Ever told anyone; “I love you with all of my heart?”  Of course, you have. And you meant it.

That’s what God requires of us, to draw nigh to Him, come near Him.  He is Holy and we are not; however, He asks us to be Holy as He is Holy.  We are to strive for Holiness.  It’s the only way we can come near to His throne room of grace.  I want to love Him with all of my heart, all my soul, all of my mind and all of my strength.  In order to do that; I must still my mind so I can hear from my Savior.

Will you still your soul and listen to the voice of your Messiah?  Will we hear the sweet gentle sound of His voice?  What does He want to say?

Prayer In Motion:

Be still, my soul.  I long to sit before You and wait with great expectation before You LORD.  I want to hear Your voice about everything.  I long to still my soul on a daily basis.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
