Departing Letter

Devotion:  Hebrews 4:12

Did you know that each time a president finishes his term; he leaves a departing letter inside his desk for the next president.  I truly wonder what he says to his successor.  Does he tell his successor the hardships he’s experienced?  Does he leave him any advice?  Does he give him hope and promise for his years to serve as the president of the United States of America?

I think of the letter that’s been left for us; God’s Word.  What a precious treasure has been given to God’s children.  Everything is written down inside those precious pages to give us hope, to tell us how to live and move and have our being.  We can find the answers to our life’s hardest questions within that letter.

God would never leave us without help, with no direction, without hope.  That’s not how our God works.  He wouldn’t leave us without a way.  He left us His letter.  He left us with Himself, His Word.  We don’t have to guess what’s in there.  We just have to read it and study it to show ourselves approved unto God, able to rightly divide the Word of truth.

No incoming president would leave the letter from his predecessor unopened.  I’m certain he can hardly wait to read it.  My friend, our Letter is so important that we should read it daily; long to read it as if it was written just for you.  It was.

In our Letter; we discover the Way, the Truth and the Life.  We find promises that will not return void.  We discover how to handle life’s most difficult circumstances.  Every issue that could possibly come up is addressed in this Letter.  It’s true!

The Word of God brings life to the helpless and hope to the hopeless.  It brings comfort to the comfortless and restores the souls of those who thought restoration not even remotely possible.

The words written in red were left for us because they were spoken by our Lord Jesus.  He knew He only had thirty-three years here on earth to accomplish His Father’s business.  Every single word of God’s Word is yes and amen.  It was written down for you and me.  These words are priceless.

Get the Letter out and read it today!  If you only have ten minutes; do not leave it lay on the shelf.  Open up this most important letter left for you.

Prayer in Motion:

Word of God speak to my heart that my soul may hear.  Your Word is alive, active and sharper than any two-edged sword.  Convict me of my sin.  I will repent.  Comfort me where I need comforting.  Lead me into the way of righteousness so that I may live my life acceptable to You, Lord.  In Jesus Name I offer up this prayer.  Amen
