Peace With God

Devotion: Philippians 4:6-7

Can we truly have peace with God that surpasses all understanding? This week we talked about soul rest.  Today we are on the subject of peace.  Jesus said, “My peace I give you, not as the world gives, so I give you.”

In this world; peace looks like having all the stuff we want.  A huge bank account.  The latest and greatest car, the nicest, biggest house.  The coolest clothes. Perfect health. Thinking fame and fortune will make us happy and keep us satisfied.  It won’t.  It can’t.  Why? because all these things will leave us empty and still be longing for more, when what we need is more of God, to know Him better.

God promises “If I be lifted up I will draw all men to Myself. ”  Oh God, draw me, draw this reader nearer to You, blessed Lord.  I long for Your peace, not the peace that the world gives but the peace that Jesus alone can give.  No one, no-thing can compare to the peace of Jesus.  He longs to rule and to reign, in our hearts.

Jesus loves You more than anybody ever can.  He longs to be Your dearest Friend.  The Bible says He sticks closer than a brother.  If you have a relationship with Jesus; He will “never leave you nor forsake you.”  He is “Emmanuel, God with us.” With you.

This grace that Jesus offers is sufficient to supply this immeasurable peace.

Could it be that peace and soul rest is synonymous, that you can’t have one without the other?  Is it possible to walk in peace and soul rest in the midst of horrific trials and tribulations?  I submit to you that it is possible.  “All things are possible to him who believes.”

The Lord says, “Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me,… for My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”  I desperately long for you and me to climb into His yoke and go with God.  Precious one, don’t you see?  He is with you always.  Open His Word, talk to Him.  Be still and know that He is God.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord God, Your Words are powerful.  Oh Jesus, help me to believe them and receive them for myself.  May I take Your yoke upon me and go with You.  More than anything; I long for Your will and Your ways to be accomplished in my life. Thank You for giving peace that the world does not offer.  Today I receive Your peace.
