Words You Regret Saying

Standard

Devotion:  1 John 1:9

Have you ever said something and as soon as the words came out of your mouth, you regretted saying them?  Just like toothpaste, once they are squeezed out, they cannot be taken back.  The Bible tells us, “Out of the mouth, the heart speaks.”

When there is something difficult that needs to be said; we should probably take a minute to think about how we should say it, so that it doesn’t come out harshly.  In any conversation; tone matters, facial expressions matter, and the volume with which we deliver the conversation matters.  How a conversation is perceived by the hearer is imperative to what one is trying to communicate.

Most women enjoy great conversations where they are acknowledged and really heard.  We can get trained in the hard conversations on what works and what doesn’t work. Elevated voices result in elevated emotions, which can lead to frustration and anger, that takes time to resolve.

Conflict resolution involves asking and receiving forgiveness.  Through the shed blood of Jesus; we receive His grace, mercy and forgiveness for the person we offended as well as for ourselves.

Words that hurt are hard to get out of our minds and hearts, whether you said them or the other person said them.  Regret ensues shortly after they come out of our mouths.  Next words should be; “please forgive me.”

A biography called “A Life of No Regrets” was written about a lady named Betty Feezor.  She was an amazing Proverbs 31 woman. She had a local Charlotte television station that came on weekly.  She would teach interested women how to sew, cook and do all kinds of things for home-making.

How can we live a life of no regrets when we all sin and fall short of God’s glory?  Only by the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus.  Ask Him to “create in us a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us.”  Confess our sin and He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all. unrighteousness.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord Jesus, thank You for forgiving my sins and regrets.  Your. precious blood covered every single one.  I am blown away how your blood washes away my. sin.  Thank You Lord.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
