In the Mean-time

Standard

Devotion: Isaiah 40:31

Lord, what shall I do in the mean-time?  The definition of mean time is meanwhile.  It’s all that’s happening or not happening while you are waiting.  David asked; “How long oh Lord, will You forget me forever?”  Have you ever asked that question of the Lord?

In the waiting, do you do nothing?  (sit on your hands?). He tells us to be still and know that He is God.  What does that really mean?  I believe it means to be still and listen for the voice of the Lord.  He waits to hear the cries of His children.  You are His sheep and He knows your voice.  Do you know the voice of your Shepherd?

Authors of great books often use this term in their writings.  As they superbly describe the actions of a certain character or circumstances. he or she will tell you what’s happening in the mean time in another place.

As we walk through whatever we are currently walking through; I think about (in the mean time. –  what is happening in heaven.)  All is well there.  Your home in heaven awaits your arrival where there will be no more sorrow or suffering, pain or disappointment.

We will get to see our loved ones and most of all we will get to see Jesus our Savior and Lord.  When we meet this One whom our soul loves live and in person, oh what a day that will be.

What will you and I do in the mean time as we wait upon the Lord?  He will renew our strength and help us to mount up with wings as eagles to run and not be weary, to walk and not faint.

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, may I be about Your business “in the mean time.  While  I am waiting, want to be actively listening for your voice.  In Jesus Name Amen.
