Come Unto Me

Standard

Devotion:  Matthew 11:28

The third verse of What A Friend We Have in Jesus is as follows:

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

There is a place of solace, where one will find comfort and consolation during times of sadness or distress.  Jesus is the only One who can provide true comfort and consolation.

Do you ever feel weak and heavy laden?  The cares are so heavy they almost stifle you.  Your enemy would love nothing more.  He cannot have your soul however, he can make your life as miserable as possible.  Satan’s mission is accomplished, if you begin to feel hopeless and helpless.  He is the father of all lies.  My heavenly friend, Teresa Brown used to say, “What won’t kill you will make you stronger.”

God is always teaching us and training us in righteousness.  We are wrapped in the robe of Christ’s righteousness.  Wow, we are clothed in His righteousness. That means when God listens to our prayers or looks at us; (He can’t look upon sin.) He sees us wrapped in the blood of Jesus. In us is no good thing except God’s Holy Spirit in whom we are sealed for our day of redemption,

No weapon formed against us shall prosper, unless we take off our armor and allow those fiery darts meant to destroy us their intentional target.

When you pray, Jesus receives the prayer and presents it to the Father.  He is our great High Priest who ever lives to make intercession for us.  What a friend we have in Jesus!

Prayer in Motion:

Lord, I come to You right now thanking You for the privilege and blessing to come to You.  I am weak and heavy ladened, cumbered with a load of care.  You know.  You bring peace that surpasses all understanding and I know You alone guard my heart and mind.  Thank You for being such a good, good Father.  In Jesus Name.   Amen.
